P is for Potty!

We purchased this book for our daughter a couple months ago and leave it on the shelf behind the toilet. It's a great way to quickly distract her before any fear kicks in about sitting on the potty. Now she will immediately request the book and sit on the potty for a few minutes while she looks through the different flaps and points out all the pictures there are to see.

Garden Story Time - Morton Arboretum

My daughter loves story time but not as much as she loves being outside. This event combines those two things, allowing children to soak up the beautiful summer weather while enjoying an entertaining story! This event is weather permitting.

DuPage Children's Museum - Music & Movement Time

Children love expressing themselves through music and this is a perfect opportunity to foster that desire. It is a great way for them to get moving and communicate with their bodies while enjoying the kid friendly songs and get in some awesome socialization with other children. The drop in event lasts 20 minutes so there will be plenty of time to explore the rest of the museum before or after.

Billy Boy's Blueberry Barn

Located just about an hour drive from Chicago (and just minutes from the Indiana Dunes, in case you're looking for weekend getaway ideas!), this farm has 10 acres of blueberries to walk through and pick off the tree to put in your bucket (or your mouth). There are seven different varieties that bloom throughout the season with a range of size and sweetness. Be sure to grab one of their blueberry pies or delicious blueberry muffins. They also sell their own honey!

Chicago River Paddle

Chicago River Paddle operates rentals and multiple parks in Chicagoland. Their Skokie Lagoon spot is great for beginner level paddlers due to their flat waters. It is in a lush forest preserve setting, giving you lots of scenery to take in as you float along. Maple Park is a gorgeous area nestled in the Palos forest preserves. When you're not boating, you can check out the awesome hiking trails or climb the bluff at Swallow Cliff. Busse Lake is full of wildlife to observe while you row or paddle along. Little Tikes Trampoline

My daughter has recently discovered how much fun it is to jump on the couch cushions. In an effort to corral her to a safer jumping zone, I purchased this mini trampoline with a handle bar. She LOVES it. I don't even understand how she has a drop of energy left in her after spending an hour going back and forth to jump on it between playing with other toys. It was easy to set up and also has a higher weight capacity than other trampolines I looked at.
