At what age do you assign children chores?

I think 5-7 is a great age, as both of my kids started showing an interest in helping around the house at that age. Before that, I think I'd have to re-do the chore afterward anyway!

Ideally, I would love for my 6-year-old to do chores. But being the baby of the family, she won't. So I think we will start chores around 8. The older two started at 8 and now they have several each morning and on the weekend. I think it builds responsibility and respect for the family as a whole.
