Brookfield Zoo Free Days
Brittany Kozielski said: All guests can enjoy free days at the Brookfield Zoo on various dates between October and February, so bundle up and get ready to enjoy the wonderful animal habitats and exhibits at this excellent Chicagoland zoo. A parking fee still applies on free admission days.

Museums at Lisle Station Park
Shila said: Love local history? The Museums at Lisle Station Park provide visitors the opportunity to learn about the heritage and culture of 19th century Northern Illinois. You'll be able to check out an old railroad caboose, the depot station, the old tavern, blacksmith shop and farmhouse. In fact, adults can also learn the trade of blacksmithing by attending a workshop event. They also offer free family friendly programming throughout the year.

Trailside Museum of Natural History
Vanessa M. said: Admission is always free at the Trailside Museum of Natural History, part of the Forest Preserves of Cook County. Housed inside an 1870's mansion and set in a tranquil forest preserve alongside the Des Plaines River, the museum is a local family favorite. Children will love visiting the live animal exhibits (turtles, owls, etc), nature displays and play areas, and exploring the hiking trails surrounding the museum. The museum also regularly hosts story times and other free family friendly programming.

Chicago, ILCosley Zoo
Kristy Pepping said: Cosley Zoo is always free for Wheaton residents and all children under 18, showcasing mostly farm animals and native Illinois wildlife, with 20 exhibits and more than 200 animals of over 50 different species. Visitors will enjoy the many natural habitats kept by the zoo for animals such as white-tailed deer, red foxes, bobcats, coyotes, llamas, horses and more. Regular family programming, such as helping to care for the animals or observing a coyote training session, are also available for an additional fee.

National Museum of Mexican Art
Kristy Pepping said: The National Museum of Mexican Art offers free admission every day it is open, so your family can immerse yourselves in the richness of Mexican art and culture right here in Chicago. They showcase 3,000 years of creativity from both sides of the border, with regular opportunities for children and family programming. Their Día de los Muertos celebration is especially worth checking out!

Lincoln Park Zoo

Open daily with free admission since it was established in 1868, the Lincoln Park Zoo is a must-see Chicago destination for families who are local as well as those who are visiting. Be sure to check out their website for a list of daily activities and educational animal experiences. Parking fees do apply, though the zoo is also easily accessible via public transportation.
